About Us

Purpose:

The Tri-Cities Pride Society (TCPS) is proud to serve the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the Tri-Cities (including Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore, and Belcarra) since 2017. We strive to do this through activism, social events, and consultation, with the goal of advancing inclusivity as well as additional objectives important to our communities.

About us:

TCPS is a small non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers! All donations and membership fees go directly back into services we offer our community. We strive to keep our programs and events free of charge to allow all members of our community to participate!

Board of Directors:

As a non-profit organization, TCPS is run by a volunteer Board of Directors who take action to further the mission of the society. We have an Annual General Meeting open to all in Feb/Mar of each year, and we welcome new Board Directors to join our team!

As we have many passions and projects within our team, we’ve also created a number of Committees that are open to Board Directors and general membership alike! If you’re interested in any of the current committees, please contactinfo@tricitiespride.ca and we’ll get you connected! The current committees are:

  • Social Justice and Solidarity Committee
  • Communications and Marketing Committee
  • Finance and Fundraising Committee
  • Governance Committee
  • LGBTQ+ Youth Committee
  • Coquitlam Pride Planning Committee

History:

The Tri-Cities Pride Society (TCPS) was formed in September 2017 to advocate for and serve the LGBT2SQ+ communities in the cities of Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Port Coquitlam. Shortly after our inception, we worked with Coquitlam City Council to bring the rainbow crosswalk, a beautiful symbol of Pride, into reality on Nov 9, 2017!

Since then, we have been organizing rallies to support SOGI policies in schools (September 2018, 2023, and 2024), as well as creating inclusive events for our 2SLGBTQIA+ community such as picnics, coffee meet-ups, and other local events.

In 2024 we took on the challenge of organizing the Coquitlam Pride Festival, with funding from the Spirit of Coquitlam grant. We worked hard to ensure that the festival had something for everyone, from 0-99+! We also focused on diversity in both our performers as well as the activities offered. We took the direction of the LGBTQ+ Youth Committee, to lift up youth voices and learn from our next generation. And we aimed for accessibility by providing our programming in facilities that have wheelchair accessibility, universal washrooms, and air conditioning, while providing ASL interpreters for the workshops and opening ceremony. All workshops and performances at the Coquitlam Pride Festival were free of charge. We’re excited to continue this Festival on an annual basis!

We are keen to collaborate with our community partners to support programs and events that focus on 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion, such as the Port Coquitlam Pride Festival. In addition, we have created our own regular programming throughout the year to support our community to find each other and strengthen our relationships.
